2022-2026

Resident Assistant

I have served as a Resident Assistant for the majority of my college career, beginning in 2022 after a challenging freshman year. That experience motivated me to support other students, especially those pursuing engineering. I was placed in the Engineering Residence College (ERC), where I had the opportunity to serve as a first point of support for nearly 40 first-semester women in the LSU College of Engineering.

This role was deeply rewarding. Through intentional programming, meaningful conversations in the hallways, and navigating roommate conflicts, I was able to positively impact residents’ confidence and persistence in their academic goals. Seeing these students grow, adapt, and choose to continue in engineering motivated me to be an RA for four years.

I’ve included a video assessing one of my weakest areas as an RA and the steps I took to improve. At the time, I struggled with creating programs that were tailored to my residents’ needs. In the following semester, after the creation of the video, I intentionally asked for resident feedback to better understand their concerns. Scheduling was a big one! In response, I developed a program focused on breaking down major requirements and pesky pre-requisites, helping my residents navigate the stressful time of course scheduling.

Leadership Highlights:

  • Designed and executed quarterly community programs for 50+ residents, achieving attendance rates 21% higher than peer communities

  • Served on a 24-hour on-call duty team supporting over 450 residents and responding to emergency and crisis situations

  • Recognized with the Most Valuable Player Award (May 2025) for outstanding leadership and commitment

  • Elected President of the Resident Assistant Advisory Board, serving as a liaison between 300 student RAs and university leadership and facilitating feedback to improve RA training, hiring processes, and new residence hall development

  • Presented to 60+ new RAs on the importance of time management and how to leverage RA experience for any industry they are applying to
